Startup Weekend Singapore 2010

Gwen and I had been planning the development of a project for post event management for a couple of months.  I cheekily, or was it earnestly, named the project MorningAfter.  Along the way, we researched the idea, alternating between joy when someone writes a post like this, thus validating our idea, and dismay when someone writes a post like this which leads to great discussions that make us question the premises and assumptions of the idea.

Research and planning, while great and noble endeavors, became a malaise which paralyzed us.

Then Startup Weekend Singapore came along and we decided to pitch the idea to fellow aspiring entrepreneurs as well as industry veterans.  A great team was formed and we managed to kick-start the project, gaining a clearer understanding of the needs and requirements of our potential users, as well as better defining the problem statement.

The idea, which matured into EventSprout, was one of the top 3 selected by the mentors and fellow attendees of the event.  W00t!

Lots more design and coding to be done before we are even near an alpha, but I’m glad we managed to get some code checked-in over the weekend.
